Welcome to Blush and Bohemian!

Our first topic in Garments + Glam will be one that is very near and dear to my heart.

This week it happens to be booties (because it is "officially fall') but fear not, there will be many shoe related posts in the future. Like her highness, Miss Carrie Bradshaw, I too have way too many of these "cant-get-enough-too-cute-to-pass-up" collectables.

In baskets, in closets (both in the master and guest room) and pretty much around every corner of the house you can find pairs of shoes. I pride myself on going through my things frequently, purging my closet of untouched and unloved pieces and donating them away. But with shoes - I always end up keeping too many for the "what if I go to...." excuse.

The shoe bug was a trait my mother passed down to me, my sister's daughter (who is a toddler and is already establishing her distinct shoe obsession) and hopefully, one day I will pass it down to my little divas as well.

I could go on and on but you catch my drift - the shoes, they are important.

Have you been drooling over fall looks that you simply can't afford? Yeah, me too. Especially since fashion week was recently ALL OVER social media. I mean hey, a girl can dream. And work. And one day buy all the pretty shoes. But in the mean time, don't allow your chic self to be thwarted by your lack of funds. Plus, allow yourself to be equally inspired by street fashion as fashion shows and you will find yourself much more creative with what you're willing to experiment with!

Let me show ya what I mean!

The velvet booties! I love!

The above is a screenshot of street fashion from the Vogue Paris website. This photo was taken during NYFW Milan. I wanted to combine a few trends into one piece - which we love - the velvet bootie! With big names like Alexander Wang and Oscar de la Renta choosing velvet as a staple fabric you KNOW that it's a trend! Combined with white/cream booties being major as well as chunky heels making a huge comeback, I am happy to say that I found the perfect pair of cheepo velvet booties which have landed me numerous compliments to which I always enthusiastically reply "They were only five dollars!". Yes, I understand this may not be the classiest response.

But it excites me! It gets my blood pumping. I mean they really were only $5!!! This is exciting stuff to me. It might make me love them more since I don't have many casual opportunities to wear velvet three inch heels. Money well spent leaves Morganne content. Lol, but really.

Okay on to the next!

When has GUCCI ever done wrong? Correct answer: NEVER.
I did not even plan this! I had to screenshot. This is a pic directly from Neiman Marcus' site.

Which leads me to my next booties on a budget find! The bad boys below I saw on NUMEROUS attendees at NYFW. I love them...I mean leather, gold and pearls? Something about this combo resonates deep within me. So when I found these guys, I couldn't resist. These too, I found for five dollars. Sale shopping baby, it's the way to go!

Needless to say, I'm pretty jazzed about my $5 finds! I got both pairs of shoes on crazy sales at a small-town mall. My point is, if you want to look like a million bucks, you don't have to spend a million bucks. Maybe just $10.

Be encouraged! Buy your bargain booties and strut them all the way into your future of decadent fantasies and aspirations. We might not have the name brands that Carrie had in her closet, but I'm still pretty sure she'd be proud of us.
